Jefferson Airplane - white rabbit

One pill makes you larger,
And one pill makes you small,
And the ones that mother gives you,
Don’t do anything at all.
Go ask Alice,
When she’s ten feet tall.

And if you go chasing rabbits,
And you know you’re going to fall,
Tell’em a hookah smoking caterpillar,
Has given you the call.
To Call Alice,
When she was just as small.

When the men on the chessboard,
Get up and tell you where to go,
And you’ve just had some kind of mushroom,
And your mind is moving low.
Go ask Alice,
I think she’ll know.

When logic and proportion,
Have fallen sloppy dead,
And the White Knight is talking backwards,
And the Red Queen’s “off with her head!”
Remember what the Doormouse said.
Feed your head, Feed your head!

In this song, Grace Slick is trying to convey the message that if parents raise their kids on movies like Disney's "Alice in Wonderland", where Alice clearly takes drug-like substances to embark on the trippy journey the story revolves around, how can they expect their children not to expiriment with illegal substances such as "shrooms" and LSD.

dali quotation interpretation

"Every morning when I wake up, I experience an exquisite joy - the joy of being Salvador Dalí - and I ask myself in rapture: What wonderful things this Salvador Dalí is going to accomplish today?" - Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí

This Dali quotation is great! I feel that it truly shows how important it is to be happy with oneself. Dali seems confident that he will do well in each day of his life. This positive attitude will most likely result in better self-esteem. I also believe that his perspective of life will make it easier for others to admire his work and ideas.

head-on: apply directly to your forehead.

Wow, what a stellar comercial! It's short, delivers the message, and then some. Even the genious color scheme of the background instantly sends the message to my brain to go out and buy myself some Head-On. I mean, you don't even need a perscription!!!

We real cool.

WE REAL COOL
-by Gwendolyn Brooks

We real cool. We
Left school. We

Lurk late. We
Strike straight. We

Sing sin. We
Thin gin. We

Jazz June. We
Die soon.

This is definitely one of my favorite poems. I enjoy how simple and straight forward it is. Because of parts like "we jazz june" and another select few, I totally agree with it. Though I can not relate to all of it, its unique structure and snazzy slang vividly appeal to me. In 10th grade I did an English project about this poem so it also brings back fun memories of working with my friends in the past. Hopefully, now, after reading this, you agree with me in digging this poem.

Shooting Rats at the Bibb County Dump

The poem "Shooting Rats at the Bibb County Dump", written by David Bottoms, is, in my opinion, one of the worst poems I have ever read. It speaks of stupid, inhumane acts like driving drunk and shooting rats. I am horrified to find out this idiotic poem was selected for the 1979 Walt Whitman award! I could easily expand on my ideas and resort to vulgarity and calling names but I feel this would not be worth my time.

El dia primero.

On this, the 13th day of September, I initiate in my blogging experience. It is stellar. I am overcome by a strong sensation of independence and extreme freedom of speech. My prediction consists of the basic concept that this will, in fact, be a completely exceptional and rejuvenating project.
